Lockscreen Pro

Some people have this annoying habit of using another person's computer without permission. Hiding or encrypting files is one way of preventing room mates or coworkers from looking through your personal data, but a better solution is to lock the computer entirely. With Lockscreen Pro, you can lock a computer's screen with a single click. The application can display an image and a clock while the screen is locked and you can set it to dim the screen and show the battery, if you are using a laptop. It can also take snapshots with a webcam, when someone attempts to unlock the screen.

The application's name may suggest that you must purchase a license, but this is not the case. It is absolutely free and you can have it up and running in no time, on Windows XP or any later edition. Instead of going through an installation process, you only need to extract Lockscreen Pro's executable file from an archive.

When launched for the first time, Lockscreen Pro will display its general settings menu, on which you must create a new password and make a few settings. The main user interface displays three options, for locking the screen, viewing webcam snapshots and accessing the general settings menu. You can lock the screen immediately, by clicking the Lock option, which you will find on the main interface, or by using a keyboard shortcut. Obviously, the screen can be unlocked only with the correct password.

Lockscreen Pro is capable of much more than locking the screen. Depending on your settings, the application can take photos with a webcam upon successful or failed logins. Besides locking the screen with a password, you can also lock it with a USB flash drive. Instead of trying to guess your password, a user would need your USB device to unlock the screen.
